Job summary

Howden is recruiting for an Insurance Apprenticeship Programme in Manchester. You’ll join a permanent role from day one while completing an 18‑month development programme, working in the Commercial & Schemes team to support existing clients and their policies.

No prior insurance experience is required; you’ll be taught everything you need to know, with structured induction, a clear progression path, and a salary of £23,000 plus pension benefits.

Qualifications

• No prior insurance experience required; training provided.
• You will learn foundations of commercial insurance and how an Account Handler supports clients.
• Strong written communication and ability to draft clear emails to clients/insurers.
• Ability to build relationships with clients, insurers and colleagues.
• Organised handling of multiple tasks with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Complete structured induction and join Commercial & Schemes team.
• Draft professional email correspondence for clients and insurers.
• Communicate with clients and insurers via email and phone.
• Gather and share information to manage policies and support client requests.
• Maintain accurate client records and build long-term relationships.
• Learn amendments to policies and renewals processes.
