Job summary

Howden in Maidstone is offering a Commercial Insurance Apprenticeship Programme starting September 2027. You’ll join a permanent role from day one while completing an 18-month development programme, working in the office at least four days per week.

No prior insurance experience is required; you’ll be trained to become an Insurance Account Handler, building relationships with clients and insurers, and gaining a recognised qualification along the way.

Responsibilities

• Learn the foundations of commercial insurance and how an Account Handler supports clients.
• Draft clear and professional email correspondence for clients and insurers.
• Build confidence speaking with clients and insurers, helping to answer queries and gather information.
• Help gather and share information needed to manage policies and respond to client requests.
• Support with maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.
• Build long-term relationships and provide excellent customer service.
• Learn how amendments to insurance policies are managed and handle renewals.
