Job summary

United Utilities is seeking an Instrumentation Field Service Engineer to maintain and install instrumentation across our sites, ensuring assets run reliably and safely. The role involves proactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and data reporting within a collaborative, field-based team.

You will work in a hands-on, independent capacity as needed, with out-of-hours standby and strict adherence to site safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship with relevant qualifications.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Experience in instrumentation, electrical maintenance, or engineering.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding across instrumentation, controls and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of flow, level, pressure instrumentation in process industries.
• Solid knowledge of safe systems of work, risk assessments and permit-to-work.
• Team player with ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instrumentation maintenance and installation to keep assets operating at their best.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across instrumentation and systems.
• Carry out proactive and planned maintenance to prevent issues.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and internal procedures.
• Maintain effective budget and cost control.
• Provide clear asset performance and repair data to feed into corporate systems.
• Analyse recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
