Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited in Bishops Stortford is seeking an Instrument Control Automation Technician to install, commission, maintain and repair water production assets, including level sensors and flow meters. You will work with SCADA, PLCs and process networks, liaising with contractors and staff to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role requires knowledge of relay logic, Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley PLCs, and fault-finding from diagrams, with the ability to train apprentices and operate

Qualifications

• Ideally, qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control and automation.
• 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification is desirable.
• Strong understanding of operational plant and control systems.
• Knowledge of Wonderware and ClearSCADA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Installations, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of water production assets including level instrumentation and flow meters.
• Work with SCADA systems, PLCs, and Process control networks.
• Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Provide technical advice and training support for technical apprentices.
