Job summary

Pathway Academy Zone is seeking an experienced Tutor to join our Alternative Provision team in Stoke-on-Trent. You will plan and deliver engaging learning sessions tailored to individual learners and work to re-engage students who may not thrive in mainstream settings.

You will support SEND/SEMH needs, differentiate instruction, and monitor progress while maintaining safeguarding and strong relationships with learners and staff.

Qualifications

• Ideally hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, QTLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or another recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience in Alternative Provision, SEND/SEMH provision or Pupil Referral Units is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds and support their learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured and engaging lessons.
• Teach learners individually and in small groups.
• Differentiate learning according to individual ability and need.
• Support learners with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Help learners re-engage with education and maintain safeguarding standards.
• Monitor and assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Complete learner records and progress documentation.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and pastoral colleagues.
• Support individual learning and behaviour plans.
