Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support learning in a Newcastle SEN school. The role involves assisting pupils with a range of needs, including some ASD/ADHD, and working in 1:1 and small-group settings.

You will build positive relationships with pupils and staff, support learning across age ranges (2–19) and may assist with Personal Care. Immediate start, full-time, temporary contract through end of academic year 2027.

Qualifications

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desirable)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Resilient, proactive and positive by nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain/renew
• Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Support pupils with SEN such as ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH
• Willingness to assist with Personal Care when required
• Develop understanding of different pupils' needs and learning styles in collaboration with Class Teachers
