Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. You will support pupils with diverse needs, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH, working closely with teachers, the SENDCo and support staff.

You will contribute to building confidence, social skills and targeted learning goals, while gaining valuable experience in a nurturing environment. The role is full-time and long-term, with regular pay through PAYE and local opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is beneficial but not required.
• Experience working with Autism, ADHD and SEMH is desirable.
• Ability to support EHCP targets and intervention plans.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND under guidance of teachers and SENCo.
• Provide 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
• Assist pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD and communication needs.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Help pupils engage with classroom activities and develop social skills.
• Foster confidence, independence and social development.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Support implementation of EHCP targets and intervention plans.
