Job summary

The Growth Company's Education and Skills team is seeking an English and Maths Tutor to plan, deliver and assess Functional Skills and GCSE lessons, maximising learner progress and achievement in post-16 education.

The role focuses mainly on Maths (Level 2) with English support as required, requires a Level 4+ teaching qualification and Maths/English Level 2, and offers a permanent, full-time position in St Helens with a salary up to £32,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification (Level 4+)
• Maths and English Level 2 (GCSE or Functional Skills)
• Experience teaching Maths to post-16 learners and supporting English when required

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver dynamic Maths and English lessons for post-16 learners.
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to tailor learning pathways.
• Personalise teaching using assessment outcomes and learner data.
• Promote high expectations to build confidence and aspirations.
• Manage classroom behaviour to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Track progress and identify learners needing intervention for rapid improvement.
• Deliver impactful teaching across centres, groups, and individual learners.
• Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety policies.
