Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic History Teacher for a highly regarded private school in Salisbury, Wiltshire. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, foster historical enquiry and help students achieve their potential.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, a History degree, and experience teaching in secondary school. You will work within a supportive, academically ambitious environment with opportunities for professional development and enrichment activities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Degree or relevant academic qualification in History or a related subject.
• Previous experience teaching History within a secondary school environment.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for historical enquiry and debate.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to inspire students and develop their confidence, curiosity and independent thinking.
• Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
• Teach a broad range of historical periods, events and themes.
• Develop students' ability to analyse evidence, evaluate interpretations and construct well-reasoned arguments.
• Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and share ideas.
• Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic development.
• Prepare students effectively for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations where required.
• Differentiate lessons and resources to meet the needs of varying abilities.
• Contribute to curriculum development, departmental planning and wider academic initiatives.
• Support History-related enrichment activities, trips, societies and other opportunities beyond the classroom.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
• Support the wider pastoral and educational life of the school.
