Job summary

South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Insight and Evaluation Lead to shape how we use evidence to improve patient outcomes. You will partner with clinical, operational and digital teams to set goals, build theories of change and deliver robust evaluations.

You will translate complex data into actionable insights, develop dashboards for senior leaders and lead a small team while fostering external collaborations with universities and evaluation networks.

Qualifications

• Experience leading insight and evaluation teams in healthcare or public sector.
• Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for senior audiences.
• Strong background in designing formative and summative evaluations using mixed methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Trust-wide insight and evaluation approaches with practical impact.
• Design and deliver evaluations using mixed methods to understand outcomes and change.
• Translate performance and clinical data into clear insights via dashboards and visuals.
• Develop advanced analytics and AI-focused solutions using agile ways of working.
• Line manage the Insight and Evaluation team, including planning and wellbeing.
• Build university and external partnerships; disseminate findings to diverse audiences.
• Advise executives on data insight; deputise for the Head of Data Insights when needed.
• Ensure Information Governance and data protection compliance across activities.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Insight and Evaluation Lead to help shape how we use insight and evaluation to improve services and outcomes for patients across the Trust. You'll act as a "researcher in residence", partnering with clinical, operational, improvement and digital teams to set evidence-based goals and measures, build theories of change, and deliver robust evaluations that drive learning and improvement.

• Lead the development and improvement of Trust-wide approaches to insight and evaluation, ensuring they are integrated, high quality and deliver practical impact.
• Design and deliver meaningful evaluations (formative and summative), using mixed methods where appropriate, to understand outcomes, mechanisms of change and what works.
• Translate complex performance and clinical information into clear, compelling insight using data storytelling, dashboards and visualisations for senior leadership audiences.
• Work with operational and clinical teams to develop and deliver advanced analytics and AI-focused solutions, using agile ways of working (including Scrum Master responsibilities).
• Lead and line manage the Insight and Evaluation team day-to-day, including work planning, performance, development and wellbeing.
• Build and maintain partnerships with universities and external evaluation/research networks, and lead dissemination of findings to a wide range of audiences.
• Provide expert advice to executives and senior leaders on data insight and evaluation, and deputise for the Head of Data Insights when required.
• Ensure Information Governance and data protection requirements are met across all evaluation and insight activity.
