Job summary

Vickerstock are recruiting for an experienced R&D Engineer in the Mid Ulster area. The role focuses on developing new products and engineering solutions from concept through detailed design to manufacture, combining mechanical design with product development and practical problem solving.

Working within an established engineering team, you will see your work progress from concept to finished manufactured product, with ongoing opportunities across new product development and engineering

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in R&D engineering, mechanical design or product development.
• Strong mechanical design and 3D CAD capability.
• Experience developing products, machinery or fabricated assemblies within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
• Good understanding of practical manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture.
• Experience taking designs from concept through to manufacture.
• Bachelor-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Strong technical and practical problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products, components and mechanical engineering solutions.
• Take engineering concepts through detailed design and into manufacture.
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings and documentation.
• Develop and improve existing products in response to requirements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing during development and introduction of new designs.
• Support prototype, testing and product validation activities.
• Investigate engineering problems and develop practical design solutions.
• Review materials, components and manufacturing methods during development.
• Support design reviews and product improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality and cost.
• Provide technical support during introduction of new products into production.
