Job summary

A well-established engineering manufacturer in County Tyrone is looking to add an R&D Engineer to its product development team. The role offers ownership from concept through to production, with a mix of CAD design and hands-on prototyping, testing and process improvement.

You’ll split your time between CAD-based design work and prototyping, testing and process improvement, collaborating closely with production to ensure designs can be built efficiently and cost-effectively.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent, with 4 years in a fabrication/manufacturing environment and at least 2 years in an R&D-focused role.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with solid IT skills including PLM/MRP systems.
• A methodical, analytical problem-solver who works well cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of new and improved products, from CAD modelling through to full manufacturing drawings and specifications.
• Plan, build and test prototypes, including structural, durability and performance testing.
• Keep pace with materials, technologies and regulatory developments relevant to the sector.
• Work alongside production to smooth the transition from design to manufacture, including tooling, fixtures and process improvements.
• Support compliance activity such as type approval where relevant.
