Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC in the United Kingdom is seeking a Night Porter to provide a warm welcome and ensure a safe, smooth night-time operation. This role includes checking in late arrivals, welcoming guests, and supporting front-of-house duties after hours.

You will work an overnight schedule (11pm–7am) at on-site locations, with a DBS check as part of the process. A strong focus on guest care, teamwork and maintaining professional standards is essential.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to guests.
• Carry out front-of-house cleaning and setup tasks as needed.
• Ensure guest and business safety and security during the night.
• Assist in emergency situations and evacuations if required.
• Handle telephone inquiries and guest complaints to ensure a positive stay.

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• you'll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
