Job summary

Mitchells & Butler (M&B) is seeking an Night Porter for overnight shifts at our hospitality sites across the United Kingdom. You will warmly greet guests, manage late check-ins, and support front‑of‑house tasks including breakfast setup, cleaning areas, and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Check in late arrivals and walk-ins as the first point of contact.
• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to all guests.
• Assist with front-of-house cleaning and breakfast setup.
• Ensure guest and business safety and security at all times.
• Lead evacuation of guests and staff safely in case of fire.
• Handle telephone enquiries and guest complaints to ensure a great stay.

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS ROLE

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You'll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
