Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is seeking a dedicated Night Porter to welcome guests, assist with late check-ins and front-of-house tasks, and help maintain a safe environment. The role involves overnight hours and contributing to room setup and breakfast areas across sites.

You'll work independently, deliver excellent guest service, and support emergencies with calm professionalism. DBS checks are part of the recruitment process, and the team offers supportive, collaborative, guest-focused work.

Qualifications

• Overnight shift availability (11pm–7am).
• Willing to undergo a DBS check as part of recruitment.
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to all guests.
• Help with front of house tasks such as breakfast area setup and room preparation.
• Ensure guest safety and security at all times.
• Respond to guest enquiries and handle complaints to ensure a positive stay.

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
