Job summary

Sun Chemical in the United Kingdom is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Customer Support team in Midsomer Norton. You will support customers by performing laboratory testing, carrying out experiments, and preparing ink samples for dispatch to clients.

You'll work with Technologists and the Global Customer Support Manager to investigate complaints and resolve technical issues, gaining exposure to different ink chemistries and applications within the printing industry.

Qualifications

• A-Level or degree-level education in Chemistry.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and following defined procedures/SOPs.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• An analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience or knowledge of ink chemistry, raw materials, printing applications or related technologies would be beneficial, although the ability and willingness to develop this knowledge is also important

Responsibilities

• Supporting customer-related activities through laboratory testing, technology and process improvements.
• Carrying out experiments independently and alongside other team members.
• Supporting the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
• Preparing and dispatching ink samples to new and existing customers.
• Supporting the investigation of manufacturing and product-related issues.
• Operating laboratory equipment and instruments safely and effectively in accordance with established procedures and SOPs.
• Maintaining appropriate levels of laboratory consumables to ensure work can continue efficiently.
• Producing clear supporting documentation and complaint reports.
• Applying technical knowledge to challenges relating to ink development, testing and printing applications.
• Developing an understanding of print process performance and product application suitability.
• Working collaboratively with Technologists, Customer Support colleagues, suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders.
