Job summary

Sun Chemical, based in Midsomer Norton, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Customer Support team. You will support customers by performing laboratory testing and preparing ink samples for distribution to clients, contributing to investigations and resolving technical issues.

Working closely with Technologists and the Global Customer Support Manager, you will gain exposure to ink chemistry across diverse applications and processes within a global organisation that values development

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Customer Support team in Midsomer Norton.

This is a varied role where you'll play an important part in supporting customers and helping to resolve technical and product-related issues. Working closely with Technologists and the Global Customer Support Manager, you'll contribute to a wide range of activities, from investigating customer complaints and carrying out laboratory testing through to preparing and dispatching ink samples to new and existing customers.

You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the business and gain exposure to different applications, technologies and challenges within the printing and ink industry.

No two days are likely to be the same, with activities changing according to business needs and customer priorities.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting customer-related activities through laboratory testing, technology and process improvements.
• Carrying out experiments independently and alongside other team members.
• Supporting the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
• Preparing and dispatching ink samples to new and existing customers.
• Supporting the investigation of manufacturing and product-related issues.
• Operating laboratory equipment and instruments safely and effectively in accordance with established procedures and SOPs.
• Maintaining appropriate levels of laboratory consumables to ensure work can continue efficiently.
• Producing clear supporting documentation and complaint reports.
• Applying technical knowledge to challenges relating to ink development, testing and printing applications.
• Developing an understanding of print process performance and product application suitability.
• Working collaboratively with Technologists, Customer Support colleagues, suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders.

We're looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory environment, with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

You'll ideally have:

• A-Level or degree-level education in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Experience of working with laboratory equipment and following defined procedures/SOPs.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• An analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• A willingness to learn about different technologies, applications and processes.
• Experience or knowledge of ink chemistry, raw materials, printing applications or related technologies would be beneficial, although the ability and willingness to develop this knowledge is also important
