Job summary

Reed Technology is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to head a team responsible for compute, storage and networking within a large, global IT environment in Newcastle. You will balance people management with hands-on technical oversight, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and the team receives coaching and development.

You will lead a team of infrastructure professionals, conduct regular 1-to-1s, manage capacity and performance, and coordinate work across hybrid on-premises

Qualifications

• Experience leading infrastructure/technical teams.
• 1-to-1s, absence management, performance and development experience.
• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and virtualization.
• Good networking knowledge across LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience in hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.
• Experience supporting technical escalations and operational issues.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with storage and backup, ITIL, ServiceNow, automation or global IT environments would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of infrastructure professionals.
• Hold regular 1-to-1s and support individual development.
• Manage absence, performance, holidays and team capacity.
• Coordinate workloads and priorities across the team.
• Support engineers with technical issues and escalations.
• Provide oversight across Microsoft infrastructure, Azure and networking.
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing between infrastructure disciplines.
• Support delivery of infrastructure projects and improvements.
• Help maintain secure, resilient and reliable infrastructure services.
• Work with colleagues and technical teams across a global organisation.
