Job summary

Reed Technology is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to head a team responsible for compute, storage and networking within a large, global IT environment in Newcastle. You will balance people management with hands-on technical oversight, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and the team receives coaching and development.

You will lead a team of infrastructure professionals, conduct regular 1-to-1s, manage capacity and performance, and coordinate work across hybrid on-premises

Qualifications

• Experience leading infrastructure/technical teams.
• 1-to-1s, absence management, performance and development experience.
• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and virtualization.
• Good networking knowledge across LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience in hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.
• Experience supporting technical escalations and operational issues.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with storage and backup, ITIL, ServiceNow, automation or global IT environments would be beneficial.

We're recruiting an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to join the IT function of a large global organisation in Newcastle.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience leading technical teams who enjoys the people management side of the role, while maintaining a good understanding of the underlying technology.

You’ll manage an established team working across servers, storage and networking, taking responsibility for their day-to-day management, development and performance. You’ll also work closely with wider infrastructure teams and management across a global IT environment.

The role

Your focus will be on leading and supporting the team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and people have the support and development they need to perform at their best.

What we're looking for

The role requires a good combination of people management experience and technical infrastructure knowledge.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Experience leading or managing an infrastructure or technical team
• Good people management experience, including 1-to-1s, absence management, performance and development
• A strong technical background within IT infrastructure
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and virtualisation
• Good networking knowledge across areas such as LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs
• Experience working within hybrid on-premise and cloud environments
• Experience supporting technical escalations and operational issues
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with areas such as storage and backup, ITIL, ServiceNow, automation or global IT environments would also be beneficial.
