Reed Technology in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to join its IT function within a large global organisation. The role focuses on leading and supporting an established team across servers, storage, networking and Microsoft infrastructure, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and team members receive the development they need.

Competenze

• Experience leading or managing an infrastructure or technical team
• Excellent people management skills including 1-to-1s, absence, performance and development
• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and virtualization
• Good networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
• Experience in hybrid on-premise and cloud environments
• Experience supporting escalations and operations
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management

We're recruiting an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to join the IT function of a large global organisation in Newcastle.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience leading technical teams who enjoys the people management side of the role, while maintaining a good understanding of the underlying technology.

You'll manage an established team working across servers, storage and networking, taking responsibility for their day-to-day management, development and performance. You'll also work closely with wider infrastructure teams and management across a global IT environment.

The role

Your focus will be on leading and supporting the team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and people have the support and development they need to perform at their best.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of infrastructure professionals


• Holding regular 1-to-1s and supporting individual development


• Managing absence, performance, holidays and team capacity


• Coordinating workloads and priorities across the team


• Supporting engineers with technical issues and escalations


• Providing oversight across Microsoft infrastructure, Azure and networking

What we're looking for

The role requires a good combination of people management experience and technical infrastructure knowledge.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Experience leading or managing an infrastructure or technical team


• Good people management experience, including 1-to-1s, absence management, performance and development


• A strong technical background within IT infrastructure


• Knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and virtualisation


• Good networking knowledge across areas such as LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs


• Experience working within hybrid on-premise and cloud environments


• Experience supporting technical escalations and operational issues


• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills

Experience with areas such as storage and backup, ITIL, ServiceNow, automation or global IT environments would also be beneficial.
