Job summary

M Group Highways, the UK’s leading highway maintenance contractor, is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to support commercial activities across major infrastructure projects. You will prepare and manage payment applications, monitor costs, and drive commercial excellence within project teams.

With a strong focus on NEC-based contracts, you will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, provide cost forecasting, and contribute to tender documentation and procurement strategies.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' Quantity Surveying experience in infrastructure/civil engineering.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Target Cost Contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
  • Experience preparing/managing payment applications and CVR/commercial administration.
  • Strong numerical/analytical ability and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel; familiarity with CEMAR/Causeway-CPA advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit and secure approval for monthly payment applications.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Develop and manage target cost contracts, including cost forecasting and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor and control project costs against budgets and forecasts to maintain financial performance.
  • Compile and analyse cost reports and commercial performance reviews.
  • Prepare and review subcontractor packages, valuations and final accounts.
  • Support change-management processes, including assessment, pricing and negotiation of variations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tender documentation and the development of procurement strategies.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate cost capture and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery.
