Third Kind Games, a Virtuos Studio based in the United Kingdom, is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, maintain, and evolve systems that support our studios, projects, and game development teams. As a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and evolving the technology systems that support our studios, projects, and game development teams. Infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting game development. Our engineers enable creative and technical teams to work effectively by providing secure, reliable, and scalable systems that support development workflows, collaboration, build pipelines, source control, cloud services, and studio operations.
You will combine deep technical expertise with a proactive, service-oriented approach, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, scalable, reliable, and fit for the needs of a growing games studio. Working closely with developers, artists, technical leadership, and external partners, you will help deliver solutions that enable teams to create games efficiently while maintaining high standards of security, performance, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and support to Infrastructure Engineers and Service Desk teams.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across the business.
• Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
• Build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences.
• Support technical interviews, recruitment activities, onboarding, and team development initiatives.
• Lead by example through professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and ownership. - Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Work collaboratively with teams across the studio to deliver exceptional service and support.

Required Skills and Experience

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimise infrastructure solutions that support game development and studio operations. Manage and support cloud, server, storage, networking, and endpoint technologies across the business.
• Own and deliver infrastructure projects from planning through implementation and ongoing support.
• Lead the investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure, network, and systems issues.
• Ensure systems are secure, available, and performing effectively through proactive monitoring and maintenance. Develop and maintain automation, scripting, and tooling solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery, backup, and resilience initiatives.
• Work closely with development teams to ensure infrastructure supports game development workflows and technical requirements. Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards.
• Independently manage multiple priorities and technical projects.
• Plan and deliver infrastructure improvements with minimal disruption to studio operations.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and technical challenges early and develop practical solutions.
• Support capacity planning and future infrastructure requirements.
• Assist with the development and enforcement of technical standards and security policies.
• Contribute to project planning, roadmaps, and technology strategy discussions.
• Balance operational support responsibilities with longer-term strategic improvements.
• Ensure infrastructure solutions align with business, project, and studio objectives.
• Support the continuous improvement of infrastructure processes, tools, and services.
