Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the Epsom and South East team. You will coordinate design work packages, lead discipline teams and ensure buildable, safe outcomes within programme, cost and quality targets.

Work across Water, Nuclear, Defence and Energy sectors, partnering with project managers, discipline leads and clients. The role offers flexible working arrangements and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

• Experience in design management or engineering management within infrastructure projects.
• Ability to coordinate design work packages across single-discipline and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of interfaces, systems integration and technical assurance.
• Experience coordinating deliverables, reviews and change control.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate defined design work packages and teams across projects from inception to completion.
• Support the Design Management Plan and align with the Project Execution Plan.
• Define design requirements, scopes, interfaces and milestones with stakeholders.
• Coordinate Basis of Design, technical interfaces and design reviews.
• Ensure QA/QC processes meet client requirements and standards.
• Identify and monitor risks, progress, and budget impacts; escalate as needed.
• Maintain records, ensure model release dates and buildability considerations.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and capability development; mentor junior staff.
• Travel to client offices and project sites across the UK as required.
