Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Engineering/Design Manager in Epsom to lead multidisciplinary design delivery across major infrastructure projects. You will guide design teams, coordinate interfaces and drive technical delivery within delegated authority, aligning with safety, quality, programme, cost and commercial requirements.

You will build client and internal relationships, coach teams, contribute to bids and promote standardisation and continuous improvement across the region.

Qualifications

• Essential professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer, Architect, Chartered Environmentalist or Project Professional status, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Substantial experience in design management, engineering management, project technical leadership or a comparable role on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to lead significant projects or defined work packages across multiple project stages.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary systems integration and technical interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, implement and maintain the Design Management Plan for the assigned project or work package.
• Lead the design and multidisciplinary teams through development of the work and coordinate interfaces and deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership to the Design Delivery Team and resolve complex issues.
• Establish governance, technical assurance and quality-control arrangements for design outputs.
• Agree the design programme, milestones and resource requirements with discipline leads and monitor progress.
• Manage expenditure against budget and coordinate commercial and programme implications.
• Lead design engagement with clients and stakeholders, chair meetings and secure decisions.
• Develop relationships across AtkinsRéalis and external partners to mobilise capability.
• Promote collaboration across disciplines and ensure effective use of BIM and common data environments.
