Job summary

VIQU Ltd. in Birmingham is hiring an Infrastructure and Security Engineer to join a small IT team with a hybrid work model. You will own the infrastructure and security estate, focusing ~80% on improvements and projects and ~20% on reactive support.

The role requires strong cloud experience (Azure/AWS), M365, governance and security controls, plus the ability to manage third-party partners and lead security initiatives.

Qualifications

• Senior infrastructure role responsible for improving IT and security estate.

Responsibilities

• Managing and improving cloud infrastructure alongside Microsoft 365 stack.
• Patching, monitoring, backup and recovery including testing restores.
• Provide third level IT support when required.
• Implementing identity and access controls, including privileged access.
• Coordinating vulnerability scanning and penetration tests as needed.
• Supporting ISO 27001 controls, risk management and audit readiness.
• Managing third-party suppliers e.g. AWS cloud partners.
• Deputising for Head of IT when required.

Infrastructure and Security Engineer

Birmingham/Hybrid

Up to GBP55,000 per annum plus bonus

A growing organisation has partnered with VIQU to hire an infrastructure engineer with a security focus to join a small IT team of three.

This role will be the most hands-on technical person in the team, looking after the infrastructure and security estate. Around 80% of the work is focused on improvement and project delivery, and about 20% is reactive support.

Responsibilities of the Infrastructure and Security Engineer

• Managing and improving their cloud infrastructure alongside the Microsoft 365 technology stack.
• Patching, monitoring, backup and recovery (including testing restores/backups).
• Provide third level IT support when required.
• Implementing identity and access, including privileged access.
• Coordinating vulnerability scanning and organising penetration tests when needed.
• Supporting ISO 27001 controls, risk management and audit readiness.
• Managing third-party suppliers (eg AWS cloud partners).

Experience required for the Infrastructure Engineer

• Experience in a senior a senior infrastructure focused role, with responsibility for improving the IT and security estate.
• Real experience across cloud and on premise infrastructure.
• Understanding of security, risk and governance, and comfortable working within change control.
• Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent practical experience (eg Microsoft, Azure, AWS, CompTIA, Cisco or cybersecurity certifications).
• Ability to take ownership of projects without needing a lot of direction.
• Strong communication skills to non technical stakeholders.
