Job summary

Capita plc and the Selborne project are recruiting to modernise Royal Navy training at HMS Collingwood. The role focuses on delivering IT training across information systems, networking and server administration. It is a full-time, term-time position based at HMS Collingwood, Fareham.

You’ll join a bold 12-year transformation, with a pro-rata salary up to £40,000 for 45 teaching weeks, and a requirement for UK Security Clearance at SC level. Training and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Excellent IT skills (MS Office and online systems).
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for IT and information systems.
• Qualification in IT or IT support experience, ideally networking.
• Training/teaching experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Information Systems and Naval CIS training programmes.
• Implement improvements to meet future training requirements.
• Support the InVal process through course content reviews.
• Maintain required skills/knowledge to deliver training as directed.
• Provide SME input to training design as needed.

Help get better trained War Fighters to the front line faster

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver \"better trained sailors to the front line faster\".

You will be responsible for the instruction of military students in all aspects of Information Technology including system administration, computer hardware, server administration and networking. Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week - Term time only

HMS Collingwood

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you'll be doing:

• Delivering primarily Information Systems and Naval Communication and Information Systems training programmes
• Implementing improvements to meet future training requirements.
• Acting as part of a course content review cell in support of the InVal process.
• Gaining and maintaining the appropriate skills and knowledge to deliver training as directed
• Providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input to the training design process as required by line management.

What we're looking for:

• Excellent IT skills (MS Office applications, Online Systems etc)
• Strong verbal communication/interpersonal skills
• A passion for IT and Information Systems
• Achieved a qualification in IT or worked within an IT support role, ideally networking
• Any training/teaching experience would be desirable
• Must be able to be cleared to UK SC level

Any experience of the following would be desirable but not essential:

• Understanding of VM Ware and Virtualisation
• Level 4 teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Comp TIA Network+
• Comp TIA Server +
• Cisco CCNA
• LPI Linux Essentials

• Juniper JNCIA-Junos

This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
