Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

37.5 Hours - Cherwell Hospital, Banbury

We are expanding our team at The Cherwell Hospital and have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Nurse to join us as an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Lead Nurse for 22.5 hrs a week. This can be a full-time position with an additional 15 hours in your area of clinical expertise, such as ward, theatre, outpatients, or pre-operative assessment.

You will provide evidence-based IPC clinical advice, lead surveillance, prevention, and control of infections, and promote high standards of IPC practices to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

We seek a professional role model experienced in improving IPC practices and staff education, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead surveillance, prevention, and control of infection in the hospital.
  2. Promote and maintain high standards of IPC practices for safety.
  3. Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to high-quality patient care, with excellent communication skills and team collaboration, while maintaining flexibility.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered Nurse with degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Recent update in infection prevention and control practices.
  • Infection Prevention and Control Course qualification (Desirable).

Experience:

  • Recent experience as a registered nurse in an acute surgical care environment.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control at ward/departmental level.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with surgical site surveillance.
  • Tissue viability knowledge.
  • Audit and surveillance experience, including SSISS.
  • Familiarity with PSIRF and report writing.
  • Policy and procedure writing skills.
