Job Description

We are expanding our team at The Cherwell Hospital and seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse to join as an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Lead Nurse for 22.5 hours a week. This can be considered full-time with an additional 15 hours in your area of expertise such as ward, theatre, outpatient, or pre-operative assessment.

The role involves providing evidence-based IPC clinical advice, leading surveillance, prevention, and control of infections, and promoting high standards of IPC practices to ensure safety for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be a professional role model with experience in IPC improvement and education delivery, committed to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Leading surveillance, prevention, and control of infections.
• Promoting high standards of IPC practices for safety.
• Providing high-quality care with excellent communication skills and teamwork.

Qualifications and Experience

• Registered Nurse, degree level or equivalent.
• Current NMC registration.
• Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Recent update in infection prevention and control practice.
• Infection Prevention and Control Course (Desirable).

Essential Experience

• Recent experience as a registered nurse in acute surgical care.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control at ward/departmental level.

Desirable Experience

• Surgical site surveillance experience.
• Tissue viability knowledge.
• Audit/surveillance experience, including SSISS.
• Familiarity with PSIRF and report writing.
• Policy/procedure writing.
