Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

37.5 Hours - Cherwell Hospital, Banbury

We are expanding our team at The Cherwell Hospital and have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse to join us as an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Lead Nurse for 22.5 hours a week. This role can be considered full-time with the remaining 15 hours dedicated to your area of clinical expertise, such as ward, theatre, outpatients, or preoperative assessment.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based IPC clinical advice, lead surveillance, prevention, and control of infections, and promote high standards of IPC practices ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

We seek a professional role model with experience in improving IPC practices and delivering staff education, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Leading in surveillance, prevention, and control of infection within the hospital setting.
  2. Promoting and maintaining high standards of IPC practices to ensure safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
  3. Providing high-quality care with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating enthusiasm and flexibility.
What You'll Bring:
  • Registered Nurse with a degree or equivalent experience.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Recent update and evidence of infection prevention and control practice.
  • Infection Prevention and Control Course qualification (Desirable).
Essential Experience:
  • Recent experience as a registered nurse in an acute surgical care environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of infection prevention and control at ward or departmental level.
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience with surgical site surveillance.
  • Knowledge of tissue viability.
  • Audit/surveillance experience, including Surgical Site Infection Surveillance Service (SSISS).
  • Familiarity with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and report writing.
  • Policy and procedure writing skills.
