Job Title: Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

Location: Cherwell Hospital, Banbury

We are expanding our team at The Cherwell Hospital and have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse to join us as an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Lead Nurse for 22.5 hours a week. This can be considered full-time with an additional 15 hours in your area of clinical expertise, such as ward, theatre, outpatient, or pre-operative assessment.

It is essential to provide evidence-based IPC clinical advice, lead surveillance, prevention, and control of infection, and promote high standards of IPC practices ensuring safety for patients, staff, and visitors.

We seek a professional role model with experience in improving IPC practices and delivering staff education, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leading surveillance, prevention, and control of infection in the hospital setting.
  • Promoting high standards of IPC practices for safety.
  • Providing high-quality care with excellent communication skills and team collaboration.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Registered Nurse, degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Recent update in infection prevention and control practice.
  • Infection Prevention and Control Course (Desirable).
Essential Experience:
  • Recent experience as a registered nurse in acute surgical care.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control at ward/department level.
Desirable Experience:
  • Surgical site surveillance experience.
  • Tissue viability knowledge.
  • Audit/surveillance experience including SSISS.
  • Familiarity with PSIRF and report writing.
  • Policy/procedure development experience.
