Effective Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an Industrial Refrigeration Engineer to install, commission, service and maintain NH3/CO2 refrigeration systems across sites in the North, centred on Durham.

The role is on-site, with a 1 in 5 standby rota, strict safety standards, and a salary of £45-59k plus bonus, van and benefits. You will read technical drawings, diagnose faults, and travel to client sites as required.

Qualificações

• Strong maintenance and repair skills for industrial refrigeration systems.
• Practical expertise with NH3 & CO2 and other industrial refrigerants, including safe handling and optimization.
• Solid mechanical engineering knowledge (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, design).
• Customer service skills with clear communication and problem solving.
• Familiarity with safety standards, F-gas regulations, and site safety practices.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use diagnostic tools.

Responsabilidades

• Install, commission, service and maintain industrial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues; perform reactive and preventive maintenance.
• Prepare technical documentation and coordinate with service manager/supervisor and engineers.
• Interact with clients on-site, providing technical guidance and clear communication.

Industrial Refrigeration Engineer

Industrial Refrigeration Engineer / Chiller Engineer. Our client, an industrial, commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation business is looking to recruit and Industrial Refrigeration Engineer to join the team.

The Industrial Refrigeration Engineer / Chiller Engineer will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems with a particular focus on NH3 and CO2 and other modern refrigerants.

Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics, troubleshooting equipment issues, carrying out both reactive and preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. The Industrial Refrigeration Engineer role involves preparing technical documentation, collaborating with Service manager/ Supervisor and other engineers, and coordinating with the team to meet customer specifications and timelines. The Industrial Refrigeration Engineer / Chiller Engineer will also interact directly with clients, providing on-site support, technical guidance, and clear communication regarding system performance and service work.

Industrial Refrigeration Engineer / Chiller Engineer duties will also include standby rota, on average 1 in 5 weeks.

This is a full time, on site role based in Durham covering sites across the North

System types include:

• Ammonia Single Stage, 2 Stage
• HFC all types
• Hydrocarbon
• CO2 cascade and trans critical

The Industrial Refrigeration Engineer / Chiller Engineer will need

• Strong Maintenance & Repair and Preventive Maintenance skills for industrial refrigeration systems.
• Practical expertise with NH3 & CO2 and other industrial refrigerants, including safe handling and system optimization.
• Solid Mechanical Engineering knowledge, ideally with experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and system design.
• Customer Service skills, including clear communication, professionalism, and client-focused problem solving.
• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical or Refrigeration Engineering).
• Familiarity with applicable safety standards, F-gas regulations, and health and safety practices for site work.
• Ability to read technical drawings, use diagnostic tools, and work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites across the region as required.
