Job summary

City of Lincoln Council is seeking a part-time team member for the Independent Living service, supporting tenants across city schemes. The role focuses on assisting residents to maintain independence through alarm equipment and links to supportive services.

Applicants should have GCSEs including English, be able to use MS Office, and preferably have experience with older people. The position offers flexible hours and a DBS check as part of pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and provide excellent customer service.
  • First aid certificate or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English at grade C / 4 or above.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office to ECDL standard or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with older people or elderly services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to tenants in independent living schemes.
  • Promote dispersed alarm equipment to help tenants maintain independence in non-supported housing.
  • Refer individuals to statutory and non-statutory services as appropriate (e.g., Adult Social Care, Wellbeing Services, Age UK).
  • Keep communal areas of supported housing schemes safe and comfortable for residents and visitors.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the City of Lincoln Council’s Housing & Investment directorate for a part-time member of staff working within our Independent Living team, working city-wide from various locations in our independent living schemes.

Key responsibilities:
  • To contribute to the achievements of the Independent Living Service by providing support and assistance to tenants of the council’s independent living schemes.
  • To assist tenants living in non-supported housing to maintain their independence through the promotion of dispersed alarm equipment and technologies.
  • To refer individuals to other statutory and non-statutory services as appropriate e.g. Adult Social Care, Wellbeing Services, Age UK.
  • To ensure that the communal areas of the councils supported housing schemes are kept in a safe and comfortable environment for residents and their visitors.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, provide excellent customer service and be able to work successfully in a team environment as well as alone.
  • A current first aid certificate or willingness to undertake this within the first 3 months of employment.
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English at grade C / 4 or above.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office to ECDL standard or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with older people or elderly services.
