Job summary

Matchtech Group’s client, an established engineering consultancy, seeks an experienced HR Manager to cover a fixed-term assignment for approximately 12 months as the organisation’s primary HR resource. An early start is preferred to enable a thorough handover; the role may extend if required.

The role entails full employee lifecycle support, from recruitment to payroll, and collaboration with finance and wider teams. A proactive, independent generalist with UK practices is ideal.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in a generalist HR role in a standalone capacity.
• Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, and payroll.
• Familiarity with UK employment practices and payroll systems.
• Proactive, self-sufficient and able to work independently.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information securely.

Responsibilities

• Manage recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
• Provide guidance on employee relations and performance reviews.
• Administer annual leave, sickness absence, timesheets and expenses.
• Maintain accurate employee records and manage contract changes.
• Support salary and bonus review processes.
• Prepare payroll information including overtime and changes.
• Collaborate with finance and wider teams on HR administration.
