Job summary

Derby College Group (DCG) is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Trainer to join our Student Experience and Pastoral team at The Roundhouse. You will provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs, helping them build confidence, independence and social skills inside and outside the classroom.

Working closely with teachers, families and external services, you will develop individual support plans, promote inclusion and respond to challenging behaviours with a calm,

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting students, or willingness to learn.
• Understanding of additional learning needs and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Confident supporting students with a range of needs and behaviours.
• Strong organisation and communication skills.
• Commitment to helping students become more independent.
• Level 2 English and maths; Safeguarding and Mental Health First Aid or willingness to train.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs.
• Develop and implement individual support plans; encourage independence.
• Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, families and external agencies to create an inclusive experience.
• May provide personal care where required.
