Job summary

Nottingham College is seeking a Learning Support assistant to help students with complex and diverse needs, with a focus on neurodiversity, across campus sites.

You will work non-teaching, support in classrooms, develop and implement support documents including exam access arrangements, and liaise with professionals to enable learner progression. A Level 2 Maths/English and experience in inclusive education are required.

Qualifications

• Hold Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent.
• Experience supporting people with learning support needs.
• Knowledge of inclusion/range and implications of disabilities/self-advocacy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and have a considerate, tolerant approach.
• Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide Learning Support for students with complex and diverse needs, with a focus on neurodiversity.
• Support in classrooms under direction of teaching colleagues and TLIP recommendations.
• Write, update and implement students’ support documents including exam access arrangements.
• Assess learners’ needs and suggest strategies to support them.
• Support transitions, enrolment and induction for students.
• Help achieve learning aims by feedback and modification of support plans.
• Assist in preparing learning/teaching resources and setting up specialist equipment.
• Attend and support EHCP reviews and liaise with external professionals.
