Job summary

Cardinal Newman College Preston in the United Kingdom is seeking a caring Foundation Learning assistant to provide pastoral support for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including personal care and mobility assistance, and to help them access college facilities during breaks.

The successful candidate will hold GCSEs in English and Mathematics (A*-C/9-4) and work as part of a supportive team, with term-time hours and a salary under the Sixth Form Colleges’ pay spine.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Support students’ personal needs including care, toileting, mobility, behaviour management as required.
• Assist students during breaks to access facilities and socialise, supporting inclusion.
• Contribute to assessment of students’ progress and transitions.
• Facilitate flexible support for learning opportunities in various settings.
