Job summary

GLC Academy: Gateway Primary Free School in Thurrock, near London, invites applications for an Inclusion Advocate. You will identify and support vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND and SEMH, working with the Inclusion Lead and SENDCo to ensure consistent strategies across staff.

You will liaise with families, teachers, and external practitioners to provide practical and emotional support, helping pupils reach academic targets and develop lifelong independence.

Qualifications

• Experience in a primary school setting and supporting learners with SEND, including SEMH needs.
• GCSEs/O-Levels and Level 2 qualification (Level 3 desirable).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Targeted Support: Model inclusive strategies and scaffold learning for vulnerable pupils, deliver groups or one-to-one sessions.
• Collaborative Planning: Assist in developing Pastoral Support Plans and Regulation Plans.
• Mentorship: Maintain daily contact with assigned pupils to support attitudes, self-regulation and independence.
• Early intervention: Represent the voice of the child in meetings to identify barriers and plan support.
• De-escalation: Support children through heightened states of arousal with co-regulation.
• Conflict resolution: Help pupils develop social skills through restorative practices.
• Record keeping: Maintain confidential records using safeguarding software CPOMS.
• Partnership: Work with families and external practitioners to deliver holistic support.
