Job summary

The Gateway Primary Free School in Tilbury is seeking a Teaching/Child Support assistant to deliver targeted pastoral support and learning activities for pupils with SEND. You will collaborate with teachers to develop plans and support transitions, applying safeguarding and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities include small-group delivery, progress recording, and working with external practitioners to support attendance and well-being. Strong ICT and communication skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in primary school SEND support, particularly SEMH.
• Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong communication and ICT usage in education.

Responsibilities

• Targeted Support: deliver learning activities to small groups and individuals, adjust tasks to meet outcomes.
• Collaborative Planning: develop Pastoral and Regulation Plans with teachers.
• Mentorship: maintain daily contact with pupils to promote self-regulation and attendance.
• Early intervention: identify barriers and support through team meetings with families.
• De-escalation: assist pupils in high-arousal situations via co-regulation.
• Conflict resolution: support pupils to build social skills through restorative practices.
• Record keeping: maintain confidential safeguarding records using CPOMS.
• Partnership: engage with families and external practitioners to support holistic learning.
