Job summary

Derbyshire County Council’s Early Years SEN (EYSEN) Service is seeking an experienced Specialist Teacher to join our team. This role improves inclusion and outcomes for young children with SEND by working with families, early years settings and other professionals across Derbyshire.

You will provide specialist assessment, modelling and support for children in a range of settings, manage a varied caseload, and deliver training while collaborating with health professionals and education colleagues

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with substantial experience in Early Years and SEND.
• Strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Neuro-affirming and trauma-informed practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of young children with significant and complex SEN and disabilities.
• Observe and assess children, identify strengths and barriers, and set outcomes with practitioners.
• Provide specialist advice, strategies, modelling and coaching to support inclusive practice and the assess–plan–do–review cycle.
• Collaborate with parents, SENCOs, early years practitioners, health professionals and partner agencies.
• Plan and deliver training, briefings and professional development for early years practitioners and other professionals.
• Maintain high-quality records, reports and advice in line with legislation and council procedures.
• Contribute to service development, quality assurance and delivery of local priorities.
