Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a Pupil Referral Service in the Rochdale Borough to recruit a committed Maths Teacher for a long-term position starting this autumn term. The role focuses on KS3–KS4 maths, with GCSE Maths and Functional Skills, in a supportive PRU setting.

You will teach smaller classes, develop numeracy, and deliver practical maths with real-life applications, including budgeting and financial literacy, within an inclusive, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS status is required.
• Recent experience teaching maths to pupils aged 10–16, preferably in PRU/SEMH settings.
• Solid understanding of GCSE Maths and Functional Skills specs.
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure and legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess engaging maths lessons for KS3–KS4 with GCSE and Functional Skills focus.
• Promote numeracy and help students catch up on disrupted education.
• Deliver practical maths content including financial education and budgeting.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to engage vulnerable learners.
• Collaborate with pastoral teams, SENCOs and support staff to meet learning and emotional needs.
• Create an inclusive classroom culture that fosters resilience and independence.
• Monitor progress, provide constructive feedback and track attainment.
• Contribute to a team ethos focused on emotional development and re-engagement.
