Job summary

Alstom, a leader in transport solutions, seeks a technically skilled professional to support the Class 730 fleet in service. You will monitor faults, provide expert help to depots, and ensure safe delivery of services while adhering to industry standards.

The role involves on-site work at our Birmingham site with a focus on reliability improvements and fault resolution. Reporting to the Outstations and Planning Manager, you will use Fleet Monitor, diagnose faults, and liaise with engineering

Qualifications

  • Electrical NVQ Level 3 in rolling stock/aircraft or equivalent.
  • Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern Electric Multiple Units.
  • IT skills – competent user of PC, including office packages, e-mail and intranet.
  • Technical experience and strong knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability. Enjoys variety in work practices, opinions and approaches
  • Self-Motivation. Carries out, using own initiative, activities that add value to the job

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to monitor, record and react to in-service failures on the Class 730 fleet.
  • Offer technical telephone support to assist drivers and customer issues.
  • Continual monitoring of units in service using Fleet Monitor tracking system.
  • Provide fault finding support to depot teams for train repair activities.
  • Carry out fault finding and investigation of intermittent faults in service.
  • Organise and control all aspects of failures in service.
  • Liaise with Production Manager to determine rescue and replacement plans for failed units.
  • Assist with failed units in service and contribute to reliability improvements.
  • Provide on-train fault diagnosis and rectification for units in service.
