Job summary

Alstom Transport UK Ltd is seeking a technically skilled engineer to deliver exam based maintenance and fault-finding on the Class 730 fleet. You will diagnose, repair and test electrical, electronic and propulsion systems, while supporting depot teams and ensuring on-time delivery of trains.

The role requires flexibility, IT proficiency and the ability to travel to project depots as needed. We value hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, with NVQ Level 3 or

Qualifications

  • Electrical based NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern Electric Multiple Units.
  • IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail and intranet.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability. Enjoys variety in work practices, opinions and approaches.
  • Self-Motivation. Carries out, using own initiative, activities that add value to the job.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake exam based maintenance
  • Undertake planned and unplanned tasks
  • Provide technical support to the depot teams in fault-finding and assistance with train repair activities
  • Provide diagnostic and repairs on electronics and electrical systems
  • Carry out Testing & Re-Commissioning activities on vehicles and trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures
  • Assist with skills development within depots
  • Provide on train fault diagnosis/rectification for units in service
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Train Care Centre quality and safety procedures
  • Where necessary travel to other 730 WMT Project Depots and Outstations to assist varying workload
