Job summary

Disability Solutions West Midlands in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Welfare Benefits Caseworker to support the Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service. You will assist cancer-affected clients with welfare benefits, access to financial support and services, and work within a values-led charity.

You will manage your caseload, maintain records, and collaborate with professionals to ensure high-quality guidance, with training and development opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in welfare benefits advice.
• Knowledge of the welfare benefits system.
• Experience with casework and client support.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on eligible welfare benefits and how to claim them.
• Assist with benefit applications and challenge decisions where needed.
• Keep up to date with benefits legislation.
• Work as part of the team to manage caseloads and priorities.
• Coordinate with the Advice Line to refer clients when appropriate.
• Deliver services by phone or face-to-face as agreed with clients.
• Prepare cases for appeal with Senior Welfare Benefits Officer as required.
• Maintain accurate client records and follow up procedures.
• Build relationships with other professionals and agencies.
• Ensure confidentiality and data protection at all times.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to service development.
• Adhere to organisational policies and report statistics as required.
