Job summary

Maiden Erlegh Trust is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant at Maiden Erlegh School, Earley, Reading. You will support individual students and small groups to access the curriculum, addressing SEND and behavioural needs with approved strategies.

The role is Disability Confident, offering safeguarding focus, with contact via [e-mail] and a start date as soon as possible. Closing date: 30 Sep 2026.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in English and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers to understand lesson objectives, planned activities and individual student support needs.
• Support individual students and small groups to understand instructions, access learning activities and develop independent learning skills.
• Check students’ understanding and provide appropriate support, including prompts when required.
• Encourage students to participate in lessons and develop their thinking and independence.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and share observations with teachers to support assessment and planning.
• Support positive behaviour and classroom routines to maintain a safe, respectful environment.
• Support students with SEND or additional learning needs through targeted interventions.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence in learning.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and support small intervention groups.
