Job summary

Maiden Erlegh Trust is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support students across classes, develop confidence and independence, and help them progress toward targets. Working under a named teacher, you will deliver targeted support and interventions in a calm, inclusive environment.

Applicants should have HLTA standards or equivalent, plus Level 2 English and maths. The role is based at Maiden Erlegh School in Earley, Reading, with 35 hours per week, term-time only plus 5 INSET days.

Qualifications

  • HLTA or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Level 2 English and Mathematics are required.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and child development is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support students to access the curriculum in small groups or 1:1.
  • Clarify instructions, check understanding, encourage participation and independence.
  • Promote safeguarding and safe learning environments following trust procedures.
  • Provide targeted interventions and progress monitoring for SEND learners.
  • Assist with assessment support and feedback to teachers and SEND colleagues.
  • Prepare and organise learning resources and materials for lessons.
