Job summary

Specialist SEND Group is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support learners with a range of needs across mainstream and specialist settings. You will work alongside teachers to create safe, inclusive environments where every learner can grow in confidence and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities, and promoting communication and independence while safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Calm, patient, and able to build trusting relationships.
• Nurturing approach and genuine enjoyment helping children succeed.
• Willingness to learn SEND knowledge.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.

Responsibilities

• Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Encouraging engagement and participation within lessons.
• Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Supporting learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, learning disabilities, and complex needs.
• Promoting communication, independence and social development.
• Using visual timetables, sensory resources and positive behaviour strategies.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff.
• Assisting pupils during break times and school activities; providing personal care where required.
