Job summary

Smile Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Inclusion Mentor to support pupils aged 11–16 in a West Bromwich secondary school. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access lessons and stay engaged, applying strategies to regulate emotions and build confidence.

The role welcomes experienced SEN staff or graduates in Psychology, Education Studies or related subjects. You will work with the SENCO and pastoral team, recording progress and safeguarding concerns, and may

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEN pupils aged 11–16, or hold a relevant degree.
• Experience with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional learning needs is desirable.
• Experience in secondary schools or youth work is beneficial.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils aged 11–16 with SEN, SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Work with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
• Help pupils access learning and remain engaged in lessons.
• Support emotional regulation, communication and confidence.
• Use calm, consistent behaviour and inclusion strategies.
• Assist with intervention, pastoral and SEN support.
• Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team and teaching staff.
• Record pupil engagement, behaviour and intervention notes where required.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
