Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in the Cannock area. You will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.

The role focuses on building positive relationships, supporting self-regulation, and collaborating with teaching and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning and help students progress academically and personally.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children or young people in educational or pastoral settings.
Experience supporting students with behavioural or SEMH needs is advantageous.
Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting young people.

Responsibilities

Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.
Building positive, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role model.
Supporting students to understand and manage their behaviour and develop positive strategies for self-regulation.
Working with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify barriers to learning and provide appropriate support.
Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and social skills.
Promoting calm, safe and inclusive learning environments and de-escalating challenging situations.
