Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in the Cannock area. You will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.

The role focuses on building positive relationships, supporting self-regulation, and collaborating with teaching and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning and help students progress academically and personally.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in educational or pastoral settings.
• Experience supporting students with behavioural or SEMH needs is advantageous.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role model.
• Supporting students to understand and manage their behaviour and develop positive strategies for self-regulation.
• Working with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify barriers to learning and provide appropriate support.
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and social skills.
• Promoting calm, safe and inclusive learning environments and de-escalating challenging situations.
