Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in the Kingston area, starting this September. You will provide essential 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs in a nurturing setting.

Qualifications

Experience supporting SEMH pupils in school settings.
Ability to deliver 1:1 or small group support.
Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building with students.
Capacity to work effectively as part of a school team.
Experience in care, youth work, or teaching support is desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for SEMH pupils.
Support pupils in accessing learning within the classroom and around the school.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have had barriers to education.
Assist with emotional regulation, wellbeing, and positive behaviour strategies.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff.
Monitor and record student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
Contribute to creating a safe, structured learning environment.
