Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a Learning Behaviour Mentor (SEMH) to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs across mainstream schools, SEN units and APs in Wakefield. You will deliver 1-1 and small-group sessions, support academic work, and help students regulate emotions to reach their potential.

The role involves close collaboration with teachers and SEN specialists, regular liaison with parents, and a commitment to safeguarding, including appropriate DBS disclosure.

Qualifications

• Empathise with vulnerable pupils and build trust.
• Strong listening and communication skills for sensitive conversations.
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly, with boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 and group support to develop social and emotional skills.
• Assist with academic support and deliver targeted interventions.
• De-escalate challenging environments using calm strategies.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviours.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and parents to support pupils.
